Mindler was founded in 2018 by two psychologists and a doctor with a shared vision of creating a world with improved mental health. Thanks to our dedicated tech teams, who developed our app and health care platform, Mindler has emerged as a leading provider, transforming the mental health industry.
Our tech organization is split into three teams: Growth, Treatment and Operational Efficiency. All teams work full-stack across our different applications like the patient app, psychologist web platform and back office systems.
About the role
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll play a key role at the intersection of people and technology. Leading a team of 4-6 engineers, you’ll be an integral part of one of our three product development teams, working closely with the Product Manager to drive innovation and execution. You’ll report directly to our VP of Engineering, and together with two other EM:s form a strategic tech leadership team. You’ll have budget responsibilities for systems & services, team activities and individuals, as well as partnering with the talent team to shape your team and retain top talents. Additionally, you’ll take on a special assignment to strengthen collaboration with our Analytics team, contributing to data-driven initiatives and projects.
Here’s some of the things you’ll do practically:
Team Leadership – Lead and support a team of 4-6 engineers, including hiring, personal development, and well-being.
Budget responsibility - Estimate, track & report costs related to systems & services, individuals & teams.
Product team collaboration – Participate in standups, planning, workshops, retrospectives, and process improvements.
Remove blockers – Streamline communication, refine requirements, and resolve team dependencies.
Finetune processes & work methods - Developing procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and risk is managed.
Provide know-how - Monitor system compliance with applicable laws and regulations, such as GDPR and PDL.
Manage third-party relations - Communicate with technical vendors, negotiating agreements & keeping track of upcoming changes.

Our Stack
Our tech stack is built with TypeScript and runs on AWS.
Our patient app is built with React-Native & Expo, tRPC, Storybook, Jest, Detox.
Our backend services use Node, Express, tRPC, Vitest, Kysely for PostGres & MySQL, Docker, CDK and Lambdas.
For our front-end clinician interface and backoffice tools we use React, Vite, Vitest, Playwright, styled-components, tRPC & react-query.

Yes! As much as they deem fit. But not as much as our Tech Leads or Developers, and likely there are often other priorities that they need to prioritize before.Is an Engineering Manager at Mindler the utmost technical expert in their team?
No, that would be our Tech Leads, and developers with skills in different areas. As an EM you’ll be expected to understand the technical solutions we implement, and be able to provide input in technical discussions, but also keep a birds-eye-view and have other perspectives in mind when making decisions - like product, business, compliance, and team well-being.Is an Engineering Manager at Mindler an HR position?
No, Mindler has a People and Culture department that will support you in common HR questions. Although you’ll have staff responsibility for your team and be the first point of contact for many queries. Since you are the person working closest to your team, you’re expected to take responsibility for each individuals well-being and personal development.Can I be an Engineering Manager at Mindler without a technical background?
No, since you’ll be a core part of the product development team’s activities, you need to have experience working practically with software development, DevOps, modern agile processes and system design.Can I apply even if I don’t have any previous leadership experience?
No, at this point we’re looking for someone with a shorter ramp-up time, with existing experience leading a development team.Does an Engineering Manager at Mindler manage a whole cross-functional team?
No, each product development team consists of an Engineering Manager, a Product Manager, a Tech Lead and a number of developers, and then design and content resources depending on team functionality. The engineering manager has staff responsibility for the Tech Lead and developers, while designers, PM:s and content editors report to our VP of Product.
